Description: | The main piece, carved from a forked branch of an ancient oak that fell in the October 1987 gales, is surrounded by three smaller blocks of wood carved with a scroll motif and a circle of rough hewn rocks. The whole assemblage sits in the centre of concentric circles of small pebbles and slate that depict ripples in water. The central piece represents the tail/fluke of a whale as it dives into the depths of the sea. |
