General Information

Work is:Extant
Owner custodian:St. Richard's Hospital, Chichester
Object listing:Not listed
Description:A series of ceramic pieces, a wall mounted altar piece and a cross. All arranged around the Hospital Chapel.
Iconographical description:The altar piece is a gold lustre disc symbolic of wholeness, unity, the sun, light of the world and intended as a focus for prayer and meditation. Surrounding the gold lustre disc are dark blue and purple glazes, symbolising infinity. The underlying sumbolism of the circle is echoed in the round forms of the altar, font and Pascal candle holder and this is further emphasised by the use of glazes and gold lustre.
