History

History:The sculpture was the last work of the artist, Helen Collis, who died of cancer in August 1995 at the age of 57. She was a member of the Fiveways Artists in Brighton. The sculpture was presented to Hove by the late sculptor’s husband, Dr. Martin Hildyard and was unveiled by Council Leader, Ivor Caplin. The piece is a replica of the sculpture that won her the Sussex Arts Club Award for Visual Arts. It was Hove's first new public work of art for 75 years.
