Description: | A circular, low, concrete direction marker atop a four stepped concrete base that extends outwards along the sea wall on both sides. The stages of the base are inset with concrete slabs. The circular concrete direction marker is inset with small ceramic tiles each holding a separate letter of the inscription. |

History
History: | Colonel John Body DSO OBE DL JP. unveiled the Tenterden War Memorial.
There is a stained glass window in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Wittersham, Kent dedicated to Body. The dedication set into the window reads: In loving remembrance of JOHN BODY of Wittersham Court who died 5th. December 1945 A man of Kent A planter in the windowsill has a plaque inscribed: A TRIBUTE OF LOYALTY AND AFFECTION FROM HIS OLD COMRADES OF THE 1/5TH BATTALION OF THE BUFFS FOR COLONEL JOHN BODY, D.S.O., O.B.E., T.D:D.L. WHO COMMANDED THE BATTALION WITH GREAT DISTINCTION IN MESOPOTAMIA 1916-1919 |
