Sculpture by Maker

Peter Webster - Biography

(1958-). Born in North Yorkshire. After graduating from Canterbury College of Art and Design with a Fine Art sculpture degree in 1980 and and an Art Teacher’s Certificate from Brighton Polytechnic in 1981, worked in a small artisan’s bronze foundry casting own and others work. Commisioned work includes bronze portraits of actors Sir Michael Hordern, Sir Donald Sinden and Joanna Lumley, life sized bronze statues of Olympic athelete Steve Ovett and comedian Max Miller. Webster’s work reflects the fascination he has of working figuratively and with the various “modelling”and “construction” materials and processes he employs when making sculptures. Clues as to how the work was made and the processes and techniques used to cast into bronze using the lost wax method are found in each piece. Work is represented in public and private collection in the UK, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain the USA and Brazil. (Source: Peter Webster)
